400 gr 45-70 bullet going down the range towards the 1000 yard target ...

For accuracy ... What is a respectable Elevation on the vernier and the MV at POI

First of all your bullet is too light for 1000 yard shooting. Elevation on the vernier will depend on the length of your barrel and I believe velocity is in the 700-800 fps range.

sharpshooter is right, the wind will murder you with a 400 grain bullet, and with bp velocity consitency may not be as good.. buy a lyman postell and youll be happer.. dave

to find tang setting sight in at 100 yards.. lets say as on my rifle its 20 inches or moa.. divide 1000 yards drop by 10 thats 190 inches add 20 and that would be aprox 210 setting on my gun if statistics are entered right.. but i doubt they are. they change daily, and temp, wind, humidity eleveatioin, all make a difference.. as stated by sharps 45-90 the balistics coeficient will be highre with the heavier bullet and you will actually have less drop at 1150 fps, which may be more accurate in bp gun. . its just an idea that would be aproximate.. dave..
