I have both, if I had the option of buying one of em first, it would be the 17hmr, then the M2 later. If you want it just for meat hunting, the M2 would be a better choice, 500fps slower makes a big difference in how much meat is left after the shot!!! Unless you restrict your shots to head shots only.
