Hi Guys i know you can help me.
I can get a 17 inch bull barrel blued with walnut forearm and with the hanger system made from Bullbarry,in 45 long colt with weaver base installed no sights.
What would this package be worth in excelent condition?
Also could the contender handle the 454Casull if the barrel was rechambered?
Thanks

As to what it would be worth go to the Bullberry website and price it out for a new one. Deduct at least $100 from that minimum.

NO NO NO NO NO NO No on the .454 Casull. Not ever unless you like holding hand grenades while they explode.

17 inch 45 colt ? It is going to be a short range hunting cartridge . I can think of alot better target guns , I would have it cut down to a resonable handgun barrel length so when you add that cost its gonna have to be a bargin price .
It might be fun to fool with for a while as a 17 inch but i know I would end up cutting it down.

What's a 17" .45 Colt good for?
Just about everything except longrange varmints.
A 17" barrel is only 3/4" longer than a Super 16, makes a nice pistol due to the .45 bore lightens the barrel weight. A big heavy .45 pistol bullet is one of the favorites in the revolver hunting groups. And then you can do like I do and put the barrel on a receiver with folding stock and makes a handy portable carbine for deer hunting from a climbing stand in the woods of Tennessee where ranges seldom exceed 75 yards.
The .45 Colt is considered by some to be the ULTIMATE WHISPER round by some, see the section on caliber selection in http://guns.connect.fi/gow/highpow.html
Personally I like the big heavy bullets fired at just under sonic speeds, easier on the ears and often has great accuracy. My favorite 45-70 BPCR load is a subsonic load.
And lastly, the Bullberry guaranteed accuracy.
Course , I agree there are other calibers that have higher velocity and less recoil that make great Contender pistol/carbine rounds, I like, own and use them too.
Aren't Contenders great.
