It was just a fawn, but all of 150 yds. That Hornaday SST broke the near shoulder, tore the heart to pieces, and left a 2" exit wound in the far ribs. I was a bit worried about shooting that distance, but the slug hit right where I aimed.

This is the youth model in 22" barrel. I added a slip-on recoil pad, it works great with heavy coats. Luv me a Handi.

Congratulations! Those SST's will put the smack-down on the deer, if you can get them to shoot accurately in your gun. They shoot horrible in mine in warm weather, but shoot real good in colder below 40 degree weather. I haven't been able to recover one yet.

Congratulations on the deer!!! I know that the SSt's in 12 ga work real well in my USH. I have the 20 ga USH that I'm going to use this season and I'll be using the SST's in this gun also. I will probably only shoot out to 100 yards if I get a shot, but it is good to know the 20 ga performs well on deer.......
