What do you all think of the new "Age distribution" alias antler restriction in Ulster county? Is this what our conservation $$$ is for? Do you think it will end in Ulster County or is NY now in the Quality deer management business?
ramrod - we may or may not see the accident rate go up. Encon is funny with some things. Recent articles portray the hunting poppulation in NYS as decreasing, when the numbers of different permit totals are actually increasing. So, EnCon reads that the numbers of overall permits are declining along with the harvest numbers, yet still see overpopulation in some larger areas and decides to back up opening day a couple of days.
So, the number of permits will increase, the deer harvest will increase and Encon can state that it is properly managing deer herds in NYS. Doancha jes luv it.......
However, to finish the first thought - although the numbers of overall permits is down, the increases are seen in landowner permits and youth permits, so I think this is a good thing. Just a thought. Mikey.
