I just got a 7tcu barrel from ED . Who ever had this barrel before me must not have hardly shot it ,There is barley a mark on it.
I have been looking at my reloading manual and the max charge for .223 is 28 grains of blc-2 (my .223 loves the stuff) but the 7tcu will take 33 grains , Is the case capacity increased that much from the parent ??What kind of pressure is devolped in the tcu ? A heavyer bullet and more powder I would think devolops more pressure ??

The case does hold quite a bit more than a .223, but the main thing is the bore is so much bigger - thus, the expansion ratio is a lot quicker. The peak pressures are going to run about the same even though you have a much heavier bullet and more powder.

BLC-2 will work in the 10" 7tcu, but be prepared for 2 foot flames coming out the end of the barrel. This is in the daylight. They will be even longer in the dark. WSR primers seem to work best with this type powder.

Have fun!!
