Ok I don't wanna sound simple but I recently saw a barrel that I wasn't familar with, it was marked 22K-Hornet. I don't believe I've ever seen or heard of one until now. Exactly what is a K-Hornet??

Its a modified version of the .22 Hornet. It yields about 100 fps more with same bullet weights. Developed by a gunsmith named Kilborne..hence the K in the designation. From what I have read its easier to reload for than the original..less collapsed shoulders and cases. You can shoot regular Hornets in it to fireform the K version..Has far less taper to case and has a distinct shoulder that the parent does not have.

22 hornet and 22Khornet

I have a Custom 12" 22 K-Hornet for my Contender, and just recently I converted my Ruger 7722Hornet to K-Hornet. Accuracy increase is the single major reason to do the conversion with extended case life a close second. Ease of fireforming and the increase in velocity are just 2 other benefits. I am very pleased with the K Hornet, it just can't be beat. Whenever I take these 2 guns out, people seem to shoot them alot!!

I like this cartridge.

(If you have this conversion done, and you have 2 seperate guns, be sure to keep the brass for the guns seperate. Sometime the gunsmiths just can't get the chambers to match. We tried on mine, but there were issues).
