Which one?

If you've got an '06, I really can't see using a .308 or 7/08 for elk or bear. The '06 will handle heavier bullets better. But, if you want an excuse for a new barrel, by all means. :-D RKBA!

well pj.....

i wouldn't hesitate to go after elk or bear with my 7-08. i'd just pick the appropriate bullet and have at it. i love my 7-08. by your posts lately i can tell you're itchin for a new barrel. now be calm and make a good decision. only you know what you want. the 06 will handle about anything so it's not about need. if you want a 7-08 just for fun then i say go for it. but how about something on the low end for just pleasure shooting or paper punching. i don't know what all you already have but i would cover all the bases first, from small varmints to elk. the small calibers are just fun to shoot sometime. the 22 centerfire's and 6mm's would be less recoil. i love 6mm's. 6br,6tcu,6x45,6x47 they are all great. the thing i like about 6mm is you can take anything from varmints to deer. recoil is not bad and they are a pleasure to shoot. but if you just want another powerhouse barrel that is accurate and not bad on recoil either. i highly recommend a 7-08. picking out what you want is half the fun. have a good one. :D
