I took my wife to Tyler wednesday for a doctor's visit, accidently had a few maps of shops on the way, after about the 6th or 7th, [left 3 hours early, for some reason], was ambushed in a shop by a H&R Ultra, 1996 Northern Rockies Elk Federation commerative, .35 Whelen, 26" barrel, 3-9x50 Bushnell , Weaver steel rings, condition between excellent and like new, the bad part, $250 + tax, could not resist, even though I had just sent my receiver off for 3 more barrels a few days before.
Just another handiholic.
I cannot post a picture here due to a missing element in my computer, pm me fo a site where a picture of it, before and after I replaced the Bushnell with a 2.5x IER shotgun scope, much more useable where I hunt, ranges are usually less than 75yd unless a power line ROW is involved.

I have heard about not only the recent 7x57 barrel that went for just over $300 but of a .35 Whelen ( a barrel alone I thought) that went for $300 or a bit more!!! I would say you did outstanding!!! You would have no problem turning that over, I for one would buy it in a heartbeat for the price you paid and I am sure many of us here would even be good enough to add a bit of profit for you!!! Congratulations on a GREAT buy. By the way, why the heck are you using that gun for 75 yard shots  , that caliber cries out for 200-250-300 yard shots. For your wooded 75 yard shots an H&R 45-70 or shotgun would be PERFECT!!!. I'll bet you could trade that .35 Whelen for one of each!...<><....

Rifle

The same place had a .25-06 with scope for $275, laminated stock and Ultra 26" barrel, I believe the prices are low there because, the pickup crowd has never heard of anything except thuty-thuty and thuty-o6 and many ammo places do not carry ammo in many of the less mainstream calibers, of course, I am very mainstream, .303 Savage,.32sp, 7.5 SR, .44-40 and .45-70 are some of my main shooters.
Tim, thanks for the help with the picture.
