I was at the local Gander mountain Lastnight and walked over to the used handgun case and there sat a Ruger Blackhack in 357mag for $242.99.
I asked to see it and I could tell its never been fired. I asked if they had the box with it and they said no so I said Ok I'll take it anyway LOL.
Its the short BBL one 4 5/8. Anyone have any experiance with this model ? Thanks....

I think you got a great deal on the Blackhawk. I had a nice pre-warning 4 & 5/8" 357 magnum and it was a fine revolver. In a fit of "trade insanity" I let it get away. I'll hopefully get another one, perhaps even one of the new 50th anniversary jobs. You'll enjoy yours, it is a practical, accurate, and well made handgun.

I had a nice 9mm/.357 convertable that I let get away. It hade one bad chamber in the .357 cylinder. I probably could have had it fixed for nothing, but I traded it away. IMO, for it's weight, the Blackhawk handles recoil better than any other .357 I've ever shot. I still miss that little shooter even though I have a Freedom Arms revolver to replace it.

I took it out and shot it and it shot pretty well but, the base pin popped out on me a couple times. I happened to stop by a gunshop on the way home and There sat a New Frontier Colt in 44Spl and The ruger was on the trading block. We haggled a bit and I made some nice $$ on the Ruger and came home with the Colt New Frontier in one of my favorite calibers.

Gday Guys,

I have my Blackhawk with a 4 5/8 barrel turning up on Monday or Tuesday, we are limited to 357mag as the largest calibre here in Australia,
It has been a long time coming, I paid $690 Aus which is equiliavent to $533 US, we are not aloud to use them for hunting either which a bummer as well.

Does anyone know when the warning stamp came about? I just put a new model .357 Blackhawk on layaway today. It looks new and doesn't have the warning stamping. Only bad thing is it has an aftermarket set of hideous pimpy burgandy colored grips on it! Will have to see about that.

I've been holding out for a 5.5" Blackhawk but when I saw the very nice LACK of a warning stamp on this one I put some dough down on it.

I picked up the Pre Warning Blackhawk. It's nice as all get out, here is the pic:

Keeping an eye out for some original grips but these will do for now.
Wore it open today while working behind the counter at the gunshop. Lots of fun, couple of folks were interested enough to take a closer look.

Last week after a long search for a decently priced used revolver I bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk S/S 7 1/2" in 44 mag from Gander Mt. for 219.00. I am extremely pleased and they threw in a years warranty. The gun is in good condition, they got a future customer. My neighbor gave me..thats right..gave me a BSA Red dot scope for it and I just ordered a weaver mount from Midway for 31.00 including shipping. It just gets better every day.

Hey Guys,

I have a chance to buy two Ruger Blackhawks,
for $400 bucks, should I jump on them? Top stainless one is a .357 and the bottom is a 45 LC. Both are only a few years old and in excellent condition, no boxes or papers or original grips for the .357 I am new to Rugers but hearing that they can take a stout load has me looking at them.

Thanks for any advice!

Billy

Yes, it is a good deal, but only if the gun case is included! LOL

Anything under $200 is considered a wonderful deal.
