I just bought a Marlin cowboy in 45-70. I have been shooting the leverevolution ammo through it and saving my brass. I understand that it’s a little shorter. My question is can I reload this brass with my classic lee loader “whack a mole” kit with the 325 Hornady Ftx bullets. TIA

Sure you can, though I have die sets for many cal. I prefer the Lee loader for 45/70. If you just load with FTX bullets you probably don’t need much else, though you really should have a powder scale. If you get into loading cast bollits, I prefer something a little better for case mouth expansion than what comes with the lee loader. I use the Lee universal tool in a Lee C press, works great. I also use Lees crimping die in this press.

I don't have a 45/70 but I would think the Leverevolution brass, being shorter, the neck may not get sized correctly with the Lee Loader...

I have loaded a couple hundred of the Hornady short brass with lee loader, both with FTX & 4 different cast. No problems they shot fine.
