OK. Got the new Handi-Rifle, and few boxes of factory ammo.

What kind of Loading Data have you guys had luck with? What should I avoid? (Powder, Bullets, Primers, Brass?) What does your's like?
I'm not looking to loosen my fillings  with recoil, but I know I can save some green by reloading.

Thanks for the help.

I think you'll find the NEF 45-70 will shoot just about any load combination up to and including lower level 3 loads for the Ruger #1. I have 3 45-70s and a 45-120 BC, and they all shoot every load I've tried in em less than 2moa and many loads less than 1½moa or less. From a mild load of the 350gr Hornady RN and 28gr of 2400 to a real healthy load of IMR3031, H4198, Rl7, IMR4198, XMP5744 and 405gr or 500gr lyman 457193, you'll be hard pressed to find a load that won't shoot good. Pickup a copy of the Loadbooks USA One book/One Caliber for the 45-70, it has loads from every major bullet and powder maker for $7. I would also recommend the Lyman 48th handloading manual.
