I have an older 45-70 barrel that has been cut down to 18 inches long. It has a stepped crown, was professionally done in a lathe, in a steady rest. It shoots great. The rear sight was a dovetailed in unit that was broken when I got the barrel, I used the bottom of the dovetail to fill in the slot. It has been polished in the lathe and cold blued. It doesn't look really ugly, but it isn't presentation grade by any means. Includes scope base. Can send pictures to an email address or cell phone. I built this gun to use in box blinds over food plots. It is handy and short, and really whacks the deer. I've used it to take about 14 in the last 5 years. Haven't used it much lately, need to thin the herd.
