Hello All,

As you can by tell by my user name I'm a wheel gun guy. With the exception of a Colt Goverment model 70 that I had 20 years ago and gave up because of a new bride and bills, I haven't owned a pistol until today. I have carried a Taurus model 85 Ultralite revolver for the past 8 years. Last weekend I had a couple of outstanding citizens drive their truck through my bussiness to gain access after beating a walk-through door to the point that even they couldn't open it. Due to a slight change in my schedule I wasn't there when they invited themselfs in. As I played through the diffent secinarios in my mind I decided I needed more firepower. I purchased a Taurus P145 because the 5 shot limit I faced with my model 85. I have always practiced with lite loads for my wheel guns. I need some receipes for a lite load that will function well with the PT145. With standard factory loads this gun packs a pretty good kick and could discourage me from practicing regularly. Any recommendation would by greatly appreciated.

Some lighter ammo I load up for my 45's is a 200 grn 'plated' RN over 5.0 Tightgroup, or 6.0 Hodgdon Universal. The speeds from the chrony when shot out of my pt-1911 were in the upper 700's if I remember correctly(with Universal), on the road now. So far these loads have cycled fine in 2 different guns. Check your manuals or the Hodgdon website you may be able to come down some.
