Federal has a line of heavy cast bullets loaded to standard pressures. Can't remember what they're calling it, but I've seen them around locally. As long as you're using a good quality hunting bullet, any standard pressure 45 Colt load will kill a deer at 50 yards. Look for hardcast lead flatpoint or jacketed soft point bullets. As always, no bullet or load will kill an animal cleanly if you make a bad shot. Practice untill you can put every bullet into a 6" circle offhand at 50 yards. If you don't reload, it'll cost you a bundle, but PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.
The only Federal Cartridge offering in .45LC is their anemic but useful 225-grain HP at 900 fps. Winchester has their Silvertip 225-grain HP at 920 fps. Both will kill a deer, but there are better choices. As mentioned above, BuffaloBore has a nice [email protected] fps which should be a fine loading for your stated use. http://www.buffalobore.com/ammunition/default.htm#low45
The Winchester 225 gr. Silver Tip is a good bullet,no argue there,I used it last year in a Uberti .45 lever gun, took one at 76 yds. according to my range finder, shot placement iv very critical though,so practice,practice,practice......
