My son, daughter and daughter-in-law just stopped by my house and gave me an early B-Day present. Its a synthetic stocked handi rifle in .30-06. I had seen it in a gun store last week and mentioned that it was there but hadn't thought about it again. What a surprise. I can't wait to get it out and shoot it. I cleaned it up really well and I put an empty case in it to make sure it ejected ok, but it wouldn't eject. No problem I live in MA so I can send it to Gardner on Monday. Still, its one of the best b-day present I ever got. THis makes 5 NEF/H&Rs now for us. Guess you guys are right, buy one and you're hooked.

Congrats and happy B'day, Tony!! Just cuz it wouldn't eject empty brass that wasn't shot in that rifle means little, if it will eject an unfired round, you're good to go... but I'd polish the chamber good with methods described here before you shoot it to insure that it ejects the brass that is fired in it, though...

You were right Quick, I tried it with an unfired shell and it ejected it fine. I didn't have a lot of time this morning but I went to the range and was able to shoot about 10 rounds through it. Every one ejected without a problem. I threw a Simmons scope I had laying around on it and got it on the paper. I'll go back some day when my son has an afternoon off and fine tune it. I have a feeling this is going to become my main rifle.
