I came across an Encore 6.5 x 284 blue 26" with muzzle brake, walnut thumbhole stock, was told it is a TC custom shop barrel. Near new condition.
He wants to trade for my Stainless Contender with 10' match barrel, original contender in near new condition.
What would be the value difference, I don't know much about Encores.
Thanks

I don't know I read that the barrel lasts on the average around 1000 rounds which is a lot of rounds for me but I doubt if the guy who has it knows how many has been down it.
But it sounds like it will shoot.

I have an F-class Savage with a custom barrel in 6.5x284 that is laser beam accurate. I've got around 600 rds down it, and haven't had to seat the bullets any further out yet. If it's going to be a hunting rifle for you, that's a whole lot of hunting. Of course, you know that round is a handloading proposition? And have you shot an Encore before? It will be a bit different than your Contender, some folks like them, and some don't.

And it's only "worth it" if it's worth it to you.
