Hi Guys, I was told by a guy at the range, of a load of 11gr of unique, and a 150 to 165 grn cast bullet. Also one of 13gr. of RedDot with the same bullet weights. I dont know the guy, and couldnt find these loads in any of my books. So I thought I'd ask before I try. I would be shooting these out of a 44 Nagant carbine. Thanks

My old Lyman 45th edition manual shows the following:

for a 173 grain Cast bullet:

Unique starting load is 11 grains for 1461 FPS and a maximum load of 14 grains for 1680 FPS. It shows no loads with red dot.

I have always heard, I think I got it from an old NRA Reloading book as well as other sources, that 7 to 13 grains of Red Dot for any 30 cal. cast bullet will make a nice pleasant combination.

Haven't tried it yet myself, but will be loading up some in the not to distant future with 200 grain .309 Lee gas checks from wheel weights in the 7.62x54R. I will probably start somewhere around the low to middle and see what results come on.
