My name is Jasmine and i am Howie's daughter. 2 weeks ago me and my father went hunting at the Crumb's Ranch. I was exited when my dad gave me his thirty-thirty. When we were in the woods we got a little to hot. So then thats when we started thinking, if a human being was hot in the woods, they would go in the shade. So we knew a hog would most likely go in the shade. When we got up to go hunt in the shady part of the woods I thought i had seen a hog laying in some brush. But it was actually a log. Then we decided to turn back around. We had to go down a muddy hill. When my dad went down he slipped and got mud all over his clothes.
After that we went to go up on one of the mountains. We could see a lot of the land. When we went to one of the phone line things we saw a mud rubb and a big hog track. Everything made since. The hogs were heading to the big ditch, and when it rained there would be water in it. When the hogs got hot, they would most likely go in the ditch. Well, at least that's what i think. When we went to go put corn in the trap, we herd a pig grunt. It was coming from the north of us. When we went to go check it out we were about 30 yards away from us. We hid behind some tree and brush. We tried to be as quiet as possible. But the hog didn't hear us so it didn't really matter. BOOM!!! Heart shot. It dropped in it's tracks. The hog broke the silence around us. We left the hog there because we already had meat in the freezer from last time we went hunting at Mr. Langleys. That was the the best hunt i ever had with my father. The hog was a boy.
The Langley Hunt
When we woke up thursday, the month of June it was time to get our camoflauge clothes on and drive all the way to Centerville. When we were in Centerville waiting in our white truck in the cabin parking lot we played with this black curr dog. It was also a girl. When we rolled up our windows and turned off the a.c. we were almost asleep when mr. langley scared us half to death. After that we rode the 4 wheeler to the place we were going to kill our hog. We waited for about 1 hour. No luck. Then we went in a tall stand. Thats when the story begins. It was about 6:30 a.m. when we were sitting in the tree stand. We had no luck untill about 7:00 a.m. First about 30 hogs came running toward the stand we were in. We made to much noise so they ran off. The second time my dad shot over the biggest boar in lead. That meat would probably last about a month or 2. The third time He shot a girl hog in the lungs. At first we mistaked the girl hog as a boar.
The hog roared in pain. After the hog was finally dead Mr. Langley came to pick us up on his 4 wheeler. It was a pretty big girl. After that we got to stay at the cabin for about 4 hours at the most. Then we headed back home with our trophy pig.
P.S. We used a bow to hunt with at the Langley Ranch.

Thats a great story!! As soon as my 6 year old daugter (Kaylee) gets out of the bath tub I'm going to help her read your post. she's been begging me to take her to Turkey hunting this fall season and this will thrill her to hear it from another young ladies view.

We live in Connecticut, but her Mom's family has 300 acres in Rio Medina, TX where I hunt pigs. She's been with me for the processing part of the hog hunt but not yet in the blind. We'll start her with the Turkeys here in CT from one of my popup blinds and move on from there. I like the popups because it allows for some errors (me & her) but keeps you close to the action.

Keep up the good work!!
