A question for Model 70 owners...

If you fiddle with it they may not cover it. Because it's the safety and for fear of lawsuits, they'll be happy to cover it. Call Winchester and have them recommend a gunsmith, or send it to them. Make them cover all the costs...

Sounds as if the stock is binding the works. The safety only acts directly on the striker assembly. It should be impossible to drop the firing pin if by just cloosing the bolt unless the trigger is not resetting correctly or the cocking cam is not being withdrawn far enough for it to be captured by the trigger assembly. Needs a trip to the smith(or back to Winchester), soonest.. good luck from the gunnut69
