OK, I have finally gotten over the fact that the ADL is a memory , yes there are still some around, but for the most part they are used ones. And before I ask my question , I will say again, if anyone has an ADL Deluxe ( 24" barrel) in a walnut and blued in a .270 caliber, please let me know).
I got to visit Gander the other day and took alot of time with the CDL and a few of the other 700 models they had. That CDL is a very sleek great looking gun, and the finish is sweet. ( at least on the one I got to hold) Satin walnut, blued barrel...black cap on the forearm, ( not glossy like the BDL)
My question is, has anyone had a chance to put one on the range? Can you compare the CDL with the Classic , ( that is apparently going away )
For the extra money, I am thinking the CDL might just be worth it...it felt balanced and had a pretty smooth action........your thought????

I was in Friedman's the other day in Nashville, TN and they had several ADLs in Walnut. One was 7mm Mag and I think the other was .270. They were both new and there may have been some others. I think they're somewhat more expensive (~ $469) but if you want one, call 'em up. I'm sure they'll transfer it to your FFL dealer. Good luck....

It's difficult to tell what Remington is going to do next. That's for sure. I understand the ADL is now gone. I wouldn't be surprised if the CDL is being floated to see how it sells, with an eye toward replacing the BDL with it. The BDL has been around for a lot of years and may be ripe for replacing. I personally feel the Classic is the best rifle in Remingtons line and would hate to see it discontinued, preferring to see it become a regular production model to replace the ADL. I no longer have much faith in Remington. Lawyers make lousy rifles. Best wishes.

The BDL has been cut down to the original BDL...no BDL DM or whatever. Sad story, but sometimes best get rid of the old and make room for the new.

Bad news Cal, the Classic has canceled. 2005 was it's last offering. I believe the CDL was introduced with the idea that since the Classic was not going to be offered, they could sell a similar rifle to those that enjoyed the Classic. I think the BDL is safe as it is. The ADL has been replaced by one of the entry level stainless and synthetic rifles.

The ADL's were replaced with what are known as "SPS" rifles (Special Purpose Synthetic) and they might come up with an "SP" line of wood-stocked rifles.

Don't think I'll need to buy any new guns anytime soon, so I just like to watch Remington flip around like a fish out of water.

After doing a lot of research and shopping around, we decided to purchase a new Remington 700 SPS Stainless 30-06.

Rifle was $469.00 from Sportsman's Warehouse in Utah and included a [24" stainless / parkerized barrel and Limbsaver Recoil Pad.

FYI:

The blued version was discounted to $398.00, but we liked the stainless at $469. (Note: The 2005 Stainless version retails for $613 and has replaced the 2004 BDL's Stainless. The 2005 SPS in blue ($520 retail) has replaced the 2004 ADL line which was dropped.)

We Piller Bedding the action / Free Floating the Barrel, and Adjusted the Trigger to 2 3/4 lbs. So far, results have been 7/8" MOA with the rifle only having 12 shots through the barrel. Should be a MOA shooter after the barrel's broken in.

I personally get the idea that todays Remington is made up mostly of bean counters and lawyers, neither of which is noted for producing great
rifles. I liked Remington much better when they let machinists and gunsmiths design and build the rifles. The finished product was a lot better. Just one mans opinion. Best wishes.

They need to scrap the junk 700 completely----start out with a clean sheet and come up with something better.

A lot of companies have done this(Tikka--Sako--Ruger---Browning---to name a few)----and guess what's sitting in my safe right now-------you can count on it that its not a junk 700.

Sorry to stir up the hornets nest------but saying what had to be said.

Sure I'd like to buy American-----but until they can come up with a decent product----I'll buy elsewhere----------that goes for GM and Ford too.

I do believe this is why they developed the Model 7...the 700 will always sell, no matter what, but the 7 is supposed to be an enhancement of the 700. :? ...have to wait and see what the jury says on that one

Not sure if the Model 7 was supposed to be an enhancement of the 700 but rather a way to come up with a smaller rifle.

From what I understand---the Model 7 traces its roots to the XP100 pistol---which came from the Model 600.

None of which are really all that different from the 700.

Omaha-BeenGlockin, calling the 700 junk, (and on the Remington forum, no less), is an excellent way to get many members to ignore just about anything else you have to say about any subject. This design has been in production for over 40 years, and outsells just about everything else. All those millions of Remington buyers must be idiots for buying junk, right? Many have done it more than once. Yes sir! We must all be a real big bunch of morons! :-D :-D :-D :-D
