Chambering

I guess I'd vote for the .338 Woods Walker. JD Jones would recommend it, but I do have a 10" .444 marlin that would zip thru any of the animals you just mentioned. I love that caliber, but it does kick! :D

Well Dennis I'd probably chose the .357 Herrett if you're looking for a factory barrel for the chores you specify or a .338 Woodswalker for a custom chambering. That is assuming you are set on the 10" barrel.

10 inch barrel - FOR MOOSE?

I don't what to shoot ANY handgun that can put a moose down with a ten inch barrel!

Perhaps you should reconsider?

Yup, West tried to sell me one at his discount price of....

$2600, for that day! Too much for me. Showed me photos and his personal gun, that he carries out in the boonies. And yes, it was a 460. I think I'll stick with my little alloy bisley. Not as many rounds as the 1911, but 6 rounds of my 340 XWFN LBT bullet should be enough.

My vote is for the 357max. With the 180 to 200 gr bullets you can down all of the animals you have mentioned. You don't have to form brass and you can get it at several different places. You can use your 357 mag dies so you don't have to pay for the expensive dies. It is just a good choice all around.
