:D FLOOMRIDER!!!! I just weighed five balls, and the average is 45 grns for a .310 dia ball. U should get 777.77 per your five lbs of lead.,or in my terms, probably about 700 balls, At any rate, thats a lot of powder and lead going downrange. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH 8) King

#0 and #1 Buck shot from Hornady

Hornady Lead shot, about $8.00 per 5 lbs.

0 BUCK, .320", 9 = approx no. of pellets in 1 oz.
9 x 16 = 144 = approx no. of pellets in 1 lb.
144 x 5 = 720 = approx no. of pellets in 5 lbs.

1 BUCK, .300", 11 = approx no. of pellets in 1 oz.
11 x 16 = 176 = approx no. of pellets in 1 lb.
176 x 5 = 880 = approx no. of pellets in 5 lbs.

I am new to the sport of the .32 cal!!

Santa is bringing me a Traditions Crockett Rifle in .32 cal.

I've got 400 Hornady 0.310" RB's and about 650 110 grain conicals from www.muzzleloader.biz

So until XMAS day I can only "dream" about making smoke with my new BP rifle!!

P.S. if either the #0 or #1 Buck shot from Hornady shoots in my Crockett...that by far seem to me to be the cheapest route. I am no stranger to bullet casting, I have bullet molds for 9mm, .38/.357, .44SP/Mag, .45LC, .45ACP, 45/70. I thought about getting a RB mold in 0.310 or 0.311" but after finding out about the Hornady buck shot...hmmmnnn seems to be as cheap with no time invested in casting.

That's right jrdavis...

....and for a #1 Buck:

#1 BUCK, .300", 11 = approx no. of pellets in 1 oz.
11 x 16 = 176 = approx no. of pellets in 1 lb.

176 x 5 = 880 = approx no. of pellets in 5 lbs.

Now, I haven't tried any of the above "buckshot" in my Crockett. Probably won't!! I've got equipment to cast my own, and it will be pure lead...no Lyman #2 Alloy here!!

Not a bad deal is right Grump!!

I got (665) 110 grain Maxi's for $30 TOTAL, shipping included.

So far, at 14 yards (in my basement!), I've shot bullets-touching groups!!

Soon I shall venture outside and see what they'll do behind 30 - 40 grains of Goex FFFg.

Don't know about the 0.311",

These Maxi's I got "mike" at 0.322" on the driving band, and 0.320" at the base. Per Bruce's recommendation I've been using an Ox-Yoke "Wonder Wad" in front of the powder charge.

Nothing conclusive yet, until I shoot at 25 and 50 yards, it's all speculation.
