Whichever caliber I get, I'm leaning toward getting a 3x9x40 shotgun/ML scope for it. Simply because of recoil. I know the shotgun/ML scope will handle the recoil, since that is what I have on my handi 45-70. Plus having that little circle at the center of the crosshairs, I really like. What do you guys think? Like I said, it'll be a better part of a month or so before it goes home with me.

I sell a lot of the Bushnell Banner Black Powder 3-9 X 40 scopes with the circle plex rec. Most guys put them on their muzzle loaders but quite a few have put them on their centerfire rifles, usually for the same reasons you mentioned, speed of target acquisition. So far all have been pleased. My Dad has one on his .22 and swears it is a squirrel killing machine. Good Luck.
