I have a Remington 700bdl that I inherited from my Grand-father that he bought in 1967. I usually just shoot Remington core-loks out of it, and usually group around 1/2 inche 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

I'm not looking for better accuracy or anything, what I get now is more than I would 'need' for antelope and coyotes in Colorado and even white tails in Pa. I'm just looking for some suggestions for reloading, and what any other 6mm fans use and what game they use them for.

Thanks,
~DoubleA~

6mm

double A, I have shot a 6mm heavy barrel for years and love it. I only hunt coyotes and prairie dogs with it, though. I use 70, 75, and 80 gn bullets from several manufacturers. I have found IMR4350 to be the best powder in my rifle. The 6mm is extremely flat shooting and performs well in crosswinds. Great cartridge!

Any Remington 6mm fans? Any load/bullet su

The 6 Rem is my dedicated prone gun on a lefty Rem 700 long action which I use in Long Range matches. They're fired at 600, 800-900-100 (Palma), and 1000 yards, depending on the type of match.

It's a 1-8" twist, 28" barrel that I run mollied 105 A-Max's thru at about 3200 with IMR 4350. Curiously, it shoots 58 V-Max's into tiny little bugholes with Varget at 3950 or so.

A whole nickelsworth!

Any Remington 6mm fans? Any load/bullet su

Double A,

I have been shooting a 6MM since '76 and I have some loads for it that are favorites. For both woodchucks and deer here in NY my favorite load is the Sierra 85HPBT with 47.5gr IMR4831. Another load that I like for hunting woodchucks is the Sierra 80SPBT blitz bullet with the same powder charge. Two deer loads that I have used over the years with great sucess are 100gr Sierra SMP bullet with 44.5 gr Accurate 3100 and the Sierra 100gr Sptz with 44.5gr IMR4831.

Remember you should work up to these loads from below!! They are safe loads in my rifle but all rifles are different.

Got a couple of favorites that work very well in my 6mm Rem...

115 gr Barnes Original on top of 45.0 gr RL 22, Fed 210M primer;

100 gr Nosler Partition on top of 47.8 gr RL 22, Fed 210M primer;

Both of these loads print ~0.8 - 0.9 MOA if I do my part with the rifle. I will note the Barnes load will foul my barrel quicker than most of my other loads.

small bore rifle

brazos bear. i have been shooting the 6mm since they first came out,even when some of the guys were complaining about the lack of stableization of the heavier bullets i was having real good luck by picking the loads for them, in 1963 they came out with 1/9 twist and it made it a lot better, another thing i like about the 6 is it will take about any load you want to throw at it and do a good job. i don't have any idea how many rounds has been through this one i have, but it has been a bunch.
take care and stay safe, joe

6mm load

I love my 6mm Rem 700 BDL. My favorite antelope load ( which also did a real number on a coyote!) is as follows:
100 gr. Rem CL
44 grns IMR 4350 (max load to be worked up to carefully)
Win primer
3000 fps

Enjoy your 6mm! :D
