Anyone shooting a factory .454 in the Encor
I have a 12 inch barrel. It is ok with Win 300 gr factory loads running slightly over 1800 fps. What are you looking for in particular? I have used sized down 525 gr cast for the 458 cal rifles in it and sized down 405 Remington soft points in it too. Good caliber with a fair amount of power.

My experience with 454
I had one 1n 12" version. With the 300 gr solid the muzzle rise seemed very violent. I have fired everything in an Encore pistol from 223, 243, 7mm-08, 308, 30-06, and 44 mag....454 was by far the most uncomfortable fro me...which is why I no longer have it. Just my input

Anyone shooting a factory .454 in the Encor
I'll be getting a 12" .454 barrel for hunting deer here in Iowa. I've heard lots of things about it, most say the recoil is awful, but I figure I can handload down and work up to recoil. Even if I run the 300 gr. bullets at around 900-1000 fps it shouldn't be terrible. Let me know what kind of velocities you get with different weight bullets and if you have any "plinker" loads for this beast.
