Tommy Tedesco was arguably the best that ever lived, given his breadth of experience and number of award winning performances. I don't think anyone else comes close, or likely ever will given the state of the music industry today and the charmed time during which he worked.

SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughan) was a great guitarist, and unfortunately his high status as a guitarist overshadows his superb singing, his showmanship, his skillful composition, and the Double Trouble band that was so important to the quality of his work. Truly a great blues man and rocker.

Nugent is a fine showman and very admirable in many ways, but to say that he's the greatest is just a bit too much of a stretch. My reasoning is that to be great, I think versatility is necessary, and Nugent is a specialist. And an excellent specialist at that, back when he was in his prime as a performer.

Ultimately there can't be a greatest (except maybe Tedesco) because there are too many styles to know. As for whether the young lady is great, being a technician does not constitute greatness. Nashville is full of guitarists who are true virtuosos of the instrument -- virtuosity is the entry level skill for that market. Send her to Nashville and see if she can compete. If Nashville isn't right for her style, she'll have to compete in another market, but there's no short cuts without competition and "paying dues".

there are a bunch of her videos on youtube.. to me , it sounds like she is just playing riff's along with a sound track.
in alot of her videos, you can hear drums , snares and other guitars in the background..
i call 'meh' on this one ..

I have seen this girl on you tube before, and she is impressive. Musical talent has always impressed me especially someone like Tina at 14 years old. I guess I'm awed by musical talent because I don't have a lick of it. Probably my favorite drum cover by Tina is Comfortably numb. There are a few other young women that are very good guitar players, but someone else will have to claim who is best.

As a guitar player who certainly wouldn't be listed as the best in my neighborhood, Perhaps in my house ::) I don't think there is A best in the world guitar player. They may be the best in their field of music. Some people think speed makes one better. How fast the fingers fly up and down the neck.I like individual styling. Willie Nelson comes to mind. His style is all his own. Some of these fast pickin rocksters or country pickers all sound the same to me.IMO, the best over all player was Chet Atkins.

Mark Knopfler is at the top in his style as well as Vince gill, Ricky skaggs in country and bluegrass. For slide guitar and dobro, it has to be Jerry Douglas. So, so many great guitar players, and many we have never heard of.I don't like hard rock, so I don't keep up with them.Just the way I see it :D

And this band had a couple of the best women guitarists. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tcCPNHIwRK8
Joan jett (singing) and lita ford( blond on black guitar) are decent but dont belong on a best list. Ive been a fan of litas for years, but she is far from a guitar great.
Yeah, you're right. I just can't think of too many female axe wielders.

Orithani is a very good technical player, but has no emotion in her music.
Lizzy hale plays background and lead sometiimes, she freely admitts she is no guitar god though. She can really sing though, the volume that she can manage is amazing for somebody her size. Her band halestorm is very good live, better than a lot of bands studio stuff.
youtube is being cranky on my end or i would post some links.

Each year, my wife and I attend the national "fiddlin" contest in Hiawassee Ga. which also includes guitar and banjo contests and I would hate to be the judge of any of them.
In Gatlinburg, I heard what I consider the best banjo picker in the world.

There's some real talent out there.
