I've got a hankering for a Carbine sized bolt action. Does anyone here have a favorite. I'm looking for good value, inexpensive to shoot, versatile and easy to carry. Good iron sights would be nice too.
I have a rem mod 7 also and love it but as of late I hace been looking at that ruger compact with a greedy eye, I would have to try one with a scope mounted on it b-4 I got serious abt it though as a rifle that small is effected alot more when you mount a scope than a standard rifle does even using the compact model scopes. I saw a Ruger M77 RSI this week end.. a 308.. That wood to the muzzle is really nice and I love the scope base situation. The 308 is easy to feed and surplus ammo would be a pleasant and cheap way to spend a day at the range... Just can't do it just now, bought a Gravermax and am officially broke.. the gunnut69
I would go for the CZ 527 Carbine in 223. I looked at this rifle last week and if i did'nt already have a 223 this would be the one. I have a CZ 452e and i would swear by them. Also comes in 762x39.
Just a suggestion, have you considered the Savage Scout Model 10fcm? They are available in .308 Win and 7mm-08 Rem. I have never shot or owned one, but I have heard nothing but positive comments about them.
Anybody here have a bad experience with one of these?
