has anyone here seen this movie? im still not sure if i liked it or hated it. If you haven't seen it its about a fat guy who made a movie putting down our american gun culture. I was just wondering whaat everyone thought about it?
Raymond. Personally I have not seen it yet. I have had a couple of the guys that seem to frequent my coffee pot a lot stated that they had watched it,but did not say where. I think thier overall view was that Rosie grew a beard and inturn got better looking. When I do see it I will give ya my input into it,but it will have to come on reg. T.V. cause I aint about to give the industry my money if it pokes fun at my recreation and protection. Stay safe. King. man I drank waaaaaayyy tooooooo much coffee today.
Fellas: michael moore simply represents his own little part of hollywood and bowling for columbine is nothing more than his feeble attemp to make a political statement. He may have won an academy award for his work but those things are meaningless in the real world. It's like giving someone a prize for just showing up. Even at the awards ceremony his statements were met with boos and catcalls, so it wasn't as widely accepted as some would have you think.
Maybe we can volunteer him as a human sheild.......now there he might find a following, briefly. This be Mikey.
I also saw that "Fine Gentleman" on the tube. Granted we are all entitled to our own opinions and say. I thought that he used the wrong forum to knock the gun industry as well as our President. Like the guy (G. Bush) or not he is in a tough position right now that I certainly wouldn't want. I would rather spend 2 months with Mikey than be in Washington right now!!! The fact that he got booed says enough for me. After his tirade I clicked the off button and he just disappeared. Ah, the wonder of electronics in this modern world. Now if we could just get Mikey to brew a decent home brew we would have something going for us!!!
Hey guys. just an opinion. Stop supporting hollywood, Kalifornia, and especially the AA. HCI supported the movie, and most probably some of the profits went to support HCI, or what ever it is called now! The movie is anti-gun all the way and so is moore. I think he's even Canadian. It's just my opinion. Boycott any movie or actor who uses their 3 minutes of imaginary fame to rant on a soap box they didn't earn or deserve. List em. penn, farrell, asner, streisand, baldwin, et al. They're all losers! Sorry? No I'm not.
I've read the basic script of M. Moore's fictious account of America's gun culture. Not only is it so highly editited as to suggest facts that are not related it is out and out lies, Moore his self openly admits to twisting factual information so a left wing, anti gun story emerges. On several interviews with different sources Moore admits to the deception. This movie is FICTION because of Moore's methods.
In one case Moore shows his self opening up a bank account with Bolder National Bank (I think bank correct) and getting his free gun. He leaves out the process of background check and time line, as I believe it took 2 days to confirm info/background check before Moore was elegable for the rifle.
In another instance moore uses tragedy. Moore reportedly gets one of the Columbine survivors to go to K-Mart and ask for a "refund" for the bullets the killers left in his body. (The killers at Columbine broke quite a few laws in order to pull their deadly stunt) This man and his movie, I use that term very loosely, are not creditable by anyone's standards.
It is a shame that such a work of pure politics, to the like America has not seen since the Hitler propaganda machine, has been welcomed by Hollywood. (who we all know where they stand)
As it's been suggested we should put our money where our hearts are and quit supporting these Hollywood wackos. Just as anything french, those in Hollywood who speak disrespectfully of America, our troops, or the President will not get one cent of my money. I saw Sigourny Weaver in an interview where she very respectfully dissagreed with our Presidents agenda, she has that right an I don't begrudge her for it. As for George Clooney, nothing he has appeared in or will be in will be viewed in my home.
We have the right, thanks to our troops, to protest and dissagree with current policies, but that must be done respectfully done. Those who are practicing stopping traffic and tieing up police forces are nothing more than domestic terrorist. When someone refuses to remove their hat to the national anthem, burns an Americian flag or disrespectfully speaks of America, I cannot be responseable for MY actions.
I'm ranting, sorry. Be aware that some of us are really tired of these jackasses and will continue to confront them with vigor.
I said some of his crew were from up north wear they are making it miserable for firearm owners . Here is Mr. Moore's acceptance speech:
Michael Moore and Michael Donovan
Michael Moore: Whoa. On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this. I have invited my fellow documentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to — they're here in solidarity with me because we like nonfiction. We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or fictition of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much.
I haven't seen it, mostly because I've seen some of his other so-called documentaries. They are not documentaries because objectivity is implied in that word. He's really a propagandist that looks at one side of an issue and presents it as if it were the whole truth. This is not very useful to anyone looking for credible information on a subject. It's not very entertaining either, so I'm not sure what value it has.
I was puzzled by the film maker's tirade at the Oscars the other night. He said that reality is fiction, while his own work makes fiction appear to be reality. Most ironic.
I detest Michael Moore for the way he treated Charlton Heston. That fine gentleman, already suffering from Alzheimer's disease, as a Hollywood great, extended a hand down to a Hollywood nobody and Michael Moore bit it off. Up to that point Moore's movie was just about a fat, greasy, unshaven slob flouncing and sweating along the street, asking people what makes America so violent and getting no answers. His "documentary" had pretty much eliminated availability of firearms as a cause, yet he laid the photo of a dead girl literally on Heston's doorstep. Would Hollywood have hailed Moore if he had gone to a nursing home and made fun of those Alzheimer's suffers there? But since it was Charlton Heston, whom the Hollywood liberals could never best when he had his wits about him, well give the man an Oscar! I guess for that crowd revenge is sweet even if it means kicking a dying man. Michael Moore is beneath contempt.
Bowling for Columbine? Education gets at least 80% of every tax dollar and needs to take partial responsibility for what happened out there. Every time something like this happens, education cops an attitude and wants to blame sportsmen and hunters?
It's time that school employees take responsibility for the money they earn! What are they doing wrong in their teaching?
Teachers unions are the only ones to not support any other unions when trouble starts.
Education is the only way to raise your taxes without a vote!
Mind you, I'm not against education but, I think we need more control of the money we spend for ecucation.
Good point about the NEA, if they had scheduled a convention in Denver I doubt they would have been asked to cancel even though the teacher union surely was more at fault than the NRA. I was quite disappointed that the NRA knuckled under and cancelled all events except the required membership meeting. It seemed to me that was a partial acceptance of blame.
