I've been out of this for awhile. A little up date looks like it's in order for me. What is in use these days for the different Handgun Silhouette classes? I have a couple of large bore handguns for this game, maybe to large.

Thanks

Hi Lee,

As long as your handguns will not do target damage, you'll be welcome at any match.

What chamberings do you have & in what handguns? That might be the best place to start this thread.

I'm shooting .375 caliber 270 grain bullets from 1750-2100 ft/sec from an XP100. The other one is .338 caliber 250 grain bullets at about the same velocitys. I can load them down. I was using 1750 because of trajectory and down range terminal energy. These are cast gas checked bullets. The 2100 ft/sec is a hunting load with Hornady 270 grain spire point bullets.

Hi Lee!

You should have no problem with cast bullets. I shoot a 7mm, 148 grain RCBS bore rider at 1750 with my MOA. I had an XP that shot the same bullet at 1900 .

Have fun!

Lee,
Where are you located in AZ? Bev and I run the matches in Phoenix at Ben Avery. Would like to have you come out and give it a try. We shoot the 3 rd. Sunday of each month.

Hi,
I'm just a little north of you in Paulden. I would like to shoot but I can't make it on Sunday.

There is one club that shoots sat. matches. Tucson Rifle Club holds Sat. silhouette matches at Tree Points Range in Tucson.

The 7mm's both the 7BR and the 7TCU are probably as good as it gets for Big Bore but your loads are more than up to the task if you are.

People have found that there is such a thing as too little cartridge for reliable target take down and there is too much cartridge for 40 to 80 rounds for human endurance. As long as you are between the two extremes you are in the "zone". Shoot what you got and have fun.

Whatever you shoot having fun is the key to longevity in the game.
