Chicken Gizzards and Hearts. Put in a big ziplock bag along with a bunch of, three times as much as you think you would use, garlic powder, powdered anise and salt. Let sit IN THE SUN for a couple of days. The hearts and gizzards stay on the hook much better than livers.
That being said, I always use freshly caught shad or skipjack if I can get them. I seem to catch more but smaller cats on the gizzards and the bigger cats on the cut bait.
