friend wants a clark longslide super ... any ideas on how much one is worth or could be had for ? he was quoted 2600 and that sounds a bit stupid..uh ... high, sorry.

That sounds at least $1500 too high for a used gun of that type. Clark makes good competition guns out of plain 1911s like the basic Springfield Armory, and only more recently from Caspian frames and slides. Google the "clark custom guns" web site and see what a new one is going for. Sounds like your friend needs to broaden his search for such a gun.
I was assuming the price quoted was "new".
You don't find many used around. Last year a local shop had a used Clarke and it was around $2100.

I have a Clark gun done in the 1987, I love it i shoot it the most. I dont know if Jim did the work I alway talked with his son.
Back in the 80s he was the best hands down.
