Yes its a high price, but where else are you going to find a New In Box
Garand? nowhere.... but look at some other collectible guns..
and the prices they go for... some people can afford it so let them
buy it.. really these guns are a investment ....

:D As my old grand pa use to say, "Son, if you want good oats, you have to pay the price. If you'll take the oats that have already been through the horse, those come cheaper."

Over the years I have witnessed firearms go from reasonable to out-of-sight. I don't see an immediate change in the rate they are going up. Buy quality, maintain it as such, and look at it as an investment. But don't be surprised if it appreciates more than a simular amount invested in the stock market.........

I remember years ago, it was probably in the era of Jimmy Carter brand double-digit inflation, that National Rifleman compared how you would have done if you had bought a Colt SAA or an ounce of gold over a number of decades. The Colt SAA was the winner.

I think I'm going to invest in one of the cheaper grade ($350 or so) CMP Garands. I've wanted one for a while now and if I wait they almost certainly will continue to go up until I can no longer afford one.

Of course I'd like to get an original 03A3 as well (I used to have a sporterized one that I sold off). It's tough to plunk down the money for one of these though when there's Mausers and such going for less than $100. :(
