Any good suggestions for a bipod for a contender? Would you mount it on the foreend or clip on barrel?

Guessing your asking about pistol length, Forend mounting is my preference forends can be replaced or refinished, barrels cost alot more to fix, marking them up reduces your chance of later selling them near what you paid for them , the shortest and the one I use I think is or was made by NcStar, I shoot mostly on a bench these days so the shorter the better

I use the Harris 6X9 inch bench rest swivel version on all my 14" contender "bench guns" mount it on the sling swivel stud. My bench gun fore ends are basically a 2X2 with a barrel channel though.

Sling swivel mount sounds good. I can add one to the foreend
I wouldn't recommend a barrel mount. I prefer a bag. I did kinda fabed up my own using pic rails & m-lok adapters and a two piece tactical bipod. Gave it a wide solid stance for shooting on a bench. All my others are sling mounted. Going to try a single pic mount that extends beyond the forend, but that is still a project in the works.

Appreciate the info. For those who hunt with contenders are you using bipods or mostly making due with whatever rest is available

I use a shooting rail on my tree stand or a shooting stick.

I take Sister Sara along and use her shoulder, Though lately she has complained of facial burns from the new muzzle brake and a ringing in her right ear ... When hunting with a rifle sitting with a bipod works for me, Hand gun finding some thing more solid stable works better for me, it is hard enough looking through a pistol scope add the shakes and I cant see squat with a bipod

I used to have a plastic folding bipod (I think it was a ramline) cut the legs a little shorter....it clamped on the barrel in seconds..was a spring loaded jobber, very cheap but very effective for hunting...I saw no point of impact shift in my 10" 357 Herrett or my super 14" 30-30....if standing shots I use a primos trigger sticks either a monopod or tripod....for bench work I always used sandbags but I'm sure a short bipod would be better...Singleshot's setup looks very stable....I fabbed a nice shooting rest from some light pine and foam and leather that I mounted to a cheap lightweight camera tripod that I carried for hunting Rabbits with my 11" 17 Ackley Hornet...it worked very well and wasn't terrible to carry.....I now have a deathgrip tripod that works exceptionally well but is a little cumbersome to carry..... I also learned that a nice rifle sling with a paracord loop at each end works great for carrying a contender by the scope and is very easy to slide the loops off....and is morey comfortable than my shoulder holster

Hey SEM, introduce me to your sister LOL.
So my brother was making a portable lightweight cane for his elderly disabled friend. He was using the center section of a aluminum adjustable crutch and hand made a relatively short handle to make up the difference in height. Don't see why a person couldn't make the same for hunting. I wasn't smart enough and just used a tree to steady myself.
Cant have the Sister but you can have one of the Mules
This is were I'd ask you to send a picture of the mules but not wanting to hijack the thread for personal pleasure...lol
I have 2 that i use both Harris BR 6-9. One swivels one doesn't. I use a Tony G pillar bedded forend, Its rock solid.
Check ebay. Forearm with a sling stud. Several different ways to go. I bought one a guy makes them for my 14 barrel. He puts a threaded piece in the forearm and all you do is screw in a sling stud.

Do you have a link? I can't seem to find it.
I can’t remember off hand, but I will look at the forearm and check eBay

Here are some photos of the forearm. I can’t find the receipt, but I bought if of eBay. Use google and search TC forearms custom made. This is for a 14’ barrel. Works really well. I will keep looking also and post if I find one. The extra holes are to be used if mounting it on a 16 “ barrel.

Dang that's a nice forarm. I can't seem to find the seller to save my soul.
There was a seller there that made similar that i have heard passed away. Rockwell stocks has made or makes those also.
I hear a lot of good reports about Tony’s Grips.

He does pillars and inlets for hanger bars, so maybe he’d have some mounting ideas, too.
