I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this has been dicussed. I'm interested in purchasing an Encore chambered for .250-3000 Savage. Now, do I have to purchase an encore in one of the regularly availible calibers and then order a custom barrel or can I just order a custom rifle. I e-mailed this same question to Thompson Center and was told that I would basically have to buy the custom rifle piece by piece, but this person wasn't sure. I'd rather just buy the rifle in the caliber I desire. Any help???

Thanks.

Custom Rifle

You can purchase entire rifle you want it from Virgin Valley or SSK.. both are on website. Both have provided excellent workmanship but be prepared to wait awhile but then again it will be worth it.

I have one that came from TC. I believe it was bought in sections. I bought it from the original owner. I would buy from EABCO if I was buying it brand new. My experience with them has been nothing less than excellent. They will do a trigger job for you at a reduced rate before they send it out, as well as, other things you want done. You WILL need a trigger job on the encore. Your selection of the 250 Sav is a good one. I bought one at the close of deer season this past Dec and love it. I am going to start reloading for it tomorrow. The bullets came in today.

to many variables

you can get a rough idea at their web sites, or call them. And you'll know exactly. but expect to spend $100-300 more than a factory. O.

bought together or a piece at a time, the price is pretty consistent. Frames (no grips/stocks if you plan on going custom there also) are $200-230, with wood or composite $280-310, then add the barrel you want ($220-???). But all the custom gun guys have pricelists on their sites. Some include extras, like VVCG price on Encore frames includes a trigger job (which IS cheaper than buying a frame and then having a trigger job, if nothing else you save the extra shipping back and forth).

Custom Encore

Can anyone tell me what a custom Encore will roughly cost??? Thanks.
If you call VVCG and talk to Steve Stratton, you'll find a vey helpful
individual. He is straightforward and will give you all the details you
need. The only sales pitch he gave me was to talk me into a stainless
barrel, and I surely do not regret it.
