To answer the question about the fluted barrel, I think they did that to provide a lighter, stronger, faster-cooling barrel than the heavy versions. Now obviously, with muzzle loading, you ain't gonna heat up the barrel too much less you're Superman, but the flutting is a little lighter than the stock hex barrels.
