Have to say that the part that I consider a shortcoming of the encore is the "stock" stock. I am not a fan of the pistol grip and cheek piece. There most be a better way. I have seen the thumb hole stock in publications. Anyone have experience with these or other stock configurations?

Denzel Roberts

Check out Denzel Roberts site, just type in the name in your search engine and his site will be the first to pop up. I have a set of Recoil Tamer grips coming from him and he has three pages of photos of his work, it's very nice and reasonably priced, for custom work.

Have one of the foxridge thumbhole stocks for my encore and have one the boyd thumbhole stocks on order. They are suppose to be out in march. After using thumbhole stocks I will not use a regular stock again unless there are no options.

Encore stocks

Stocks seem awkward at first but what I like about them is how easy it is to handle the rifle/ML/slug gun while in a tree stand. Positive grip and easier to maneuver for a shot. Filled plastic stocks with expandable foam which helped dampen them a bit. Don't go past 65% full like I did on the first stock..what a mess....Next stock will be from VV gray laminate with Sims recoil pad. It will be sweet to shoot slugs with it.

Cheek Peice?

Whoa! REd flags, My uncle is ready to order an Encore Rynite rifle kit for 7MM Mag and I have been thinking of one myself in 300 Win Mag. Prob is we are both left handed. Is their a cheek peice for righties? TC's website says "Monte Carlo" but didn't state cheek peice.

My Contender carbine does not have a cheek peice. Someone that has one, please advise. Thanks!

Thumbhole Problem

I have a Foxridge thumbhole on my contender carbine. Love it...Looks great....Feels great....Shoots great. OK whats' the problem....cocking the hammer. You must remove you thumb from hole to cock hammer or use off hand. Not a problem when relaxed shootin'...ie plinking...ground hogs...etc. Wouldn't want to use it to deer hunt. Murphy shows up enough as it is w/o an invite, don't you know!! GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt :D :D :D

I too have a problem with the Encore stock. I have discovered that the my individual problem is that when I shoulder my gun with the stock against my cheek, it's to low. I have seen a 'rubber' adhesive backed spacer that doesn't look that bad (as bad a leather tie on). I'm curious if anyone has tried these. Giving it strong consideration. They are offered @ E. Arthur Brown.
