OK I just picked up a synthetic stock that I thought was a Encore stock but when I got it home and really looked at it, it is smaller.
The pistol grip is about a finger shorter and the stocks length is about 5/8" shorter than my other synthetic rifle stock that I have on another frame.

The checker pattern does not cover as much area as my other one either.

Whats the deal? Did I get a youth stock?

I have yet to mount it (been hunting) so I don't know how it fits the frame.

Is it a Contender or G2 Stock? If its bad just take it back and get another if you can. Can you post a picture showing what your talking about?

Don't know if it is a G2 or not...I bought this at Cabelas in the gun library, they had it marked as a Encore stock but they got it in with a trade on a collection and I can't be sure now what it origin was.

I looked at T/C web site and the checkering design matches the one I just bought (they must have changed the design from my other Encore that I have because mine is much bigger pattern) anyway I will mount it today and see if it fits and if it does I would think that it would be a youth stock. If it does not It probably is a G2 stock.

Anybody have any measurements of a youth stock and a G2 synthetic stock?

OK, I mounted it and it fits perfect.
I measured the length of pull and it is 14"
Then I measured my other Encore and it is 14 3/4" both are 100% original and both have the same T/C rubber pad on them.

Did T/C make a youth/bantam stock in synthetic?

I think so. If its too short buy the stock extender thing out of cableas mag. I think its made by beartooth ???

Ill just keep it for my son as he will need a shorter stock when he starts shooting, then I will have to buy another stock for this frame. I only had to put 20.00 bucks in this stock and it looks like it was never used.
It might even fit the wife better than my other stock does.

From what I have seen there are 2 different Encore stocks. Don't know which is early and which is late, or if they're both currently being produced, but one is more "straight" and the other has more drop. On one the toe sticks out more. One is smaller where the grip meets the buttstock portion than the other.

If anybody has a more difinitive description of these and answer to why they are different, I'd like to hear it.

here is a thought for you. try putting all your cold weather stuff on just like you would be when hunting and see how it fits.
the shorter stock may work better with all the insulation on.

I have done some minor research, mainly of looking at the current T/C website and a 2004 T/C catalog I have laying around.

The stock I have matches what they show on the website. The *other* stock I've seen is in the 2004 catalog.

The wood stock, #7722, looks more like the *other* synthetic stock I've seen.

The *other* stock is fatter from the base of the pistol grip back, and thinner at that point. The *U* shape that's created at that point is larger than the *U* on my stock, and the cheeckpiece on that *other* stock goes back almost all the way to the butt-pad before it drops. Mine drops about an inch sooner and is at a more gentle slope.

It looks like the pistol grip is shorter on the new stock, and that it has less drop than the old stock,

The LOP is listed as the same, but I bet the older one is shorter.
