anyone ever had a discussion with Dan Micka at Essex co? he is not a very nice guy to talk with. smart
mouth on the phone and emails. don't ask him to send any pictures of the extrea alternator conversion or buy a part from it. he will blow his top and get bad. not a good way to gross sales.this is what he emailed me back. Rob - I had you figured out after your
insistence on pictures and the
that
conversation we had. I can't believe you would expect me to waste
any
more
time on the likes of you.
This is our last communication, I don't want to conduct any business
with
you.
Dan
i didn't do anything at all. sad i was going to add some of his stuff to my mule but not now! give him a call and you'll see how he talks to you. :(

I have never ordered anything from Essex, although I have asked some questions of them over the phone. They do somewhat of a hard sales pitch I agree. Now are you saying that he became rude after you asked him to send a picture of one of their products? Do you think he figured you were just trying to get their info so you could make your own? THats what his e-mail sounds like. I would agree that if what you posted is his response to your simply asking for a photo, then he was rude.

Not doubting you, but it seems that there must be something more to the situation. How did the telephone conversations go? I have recommended them to alot of people for accessories for Polaris and Kawasaki Mules, and sure don't want to continue to do so if they are displaying bad manners to customers. please give more details if you would. Anyone else had bad experiences with Essex?

alternator conversion

i would think if i had a customer ask if they can buy all the parts for the alternator conversion but didn't want the alternator i would work it out with them or just say i can't. i asked him if i can get a bosch alternator
from the parts store in my town so i can get a lifetime
warranty on the alternator. i wanted to see the alternator pictures because everyone selling this alternator conversion never show pictures of it on the mule. also to see how much space i had around the motor and where it fit at. for paying a some of $400 am i in the wrong for asking and him talking to me that way? oh-well.......

You didn't mention anything in your first post about having spent a penny at Essex much less $400.00. If you spent that much money for an alternator conversion then I assume they would send you the pic's in the installation instructions. Like I originally posted, there must be something more to the conversation than what you posted. Seems I was correct. Even other companies selling it don't show pictures? Have you called and requested it from other companies? How did they respond?

Now it could be that they only sell the thing as a complete kit. If they sold everything but the actual alternator then I guess they would be left holding an alternator without the kit and would have a hard time selling it as a stand alone part, no way to attache it to a Mule. If you can find it somewhere else it sounds like it would be best for you to buy it. Essex makes alot of accessories for the Mule, but I'm sure they are not the only company out there. Good luck to you.
