I have an F-1 that I bought right after they came out. Can't remember exactly how long ago that was, maybe 8-10 years? Anyhow, however long it was, it has not given me one minute's trouble. Works as well now as it did when new. I highly recommend them.
I have been using one for quite a long time now. Use it for handguns, rifles, muzzleloaders, shotguns and archery. Haven't had any trouble with it and always seems like it's done just what I needed it to do.
I have one of the "original" Chronys from a good many years ago. It has worked well. I understand the new ones have bigger screens for shooting the bullet through...That would certainly be an advantage! I am thinking of trading mine in on a more sophisticated Chrony model later this winter. I can probably almost get the amount of money out of it on a trade-in that I originally paid for it. Chrony offers this option. You will be amazed at the information a chronograph can supply--I wouldn't be without one ever again. Good-luck...BCB
