Good afternoon all - long time lurker - first time poster. What is the appropriate sub to ask the community for value on a FA?

This is the right sub forum to ask on, it's just things have been slow on this site. I wouldn't want to even guess at the guns value, other than to say that long barrels like the one shown have limited general appeal, with shorter barreled revolvers being more popular in general, and hence bringing more $ for examples of the same model. Is there a Freedom Arms Forum you can check in with? I might also go on Gun Broker and see what completed auctions for guns like that were bringing.

Unless you really want a 10 inch barrel, figure maybe $200 for a gunsmith to cut, crown, and re-mount the front sight, plus you might need a different height front sight with the shorter barrel. That would also hurt any future collectors interest, unless, maybe, it was done by FA with an accompanying letter that was kept with the gun.

Thank you very much for the input and yes the barrel is long but I have a quote for $125 to cut and crown to any length - so I would cut and crown to specified length by buyer to be included in the price - (or i would give a $125.00) credit if someone wants to do it themselves. Need to move this piece - so am motivated.

As it relates to a Freedom Arms forum - yes there is - This particular forum is factory sponsored by Freedom Arms - so i thought this would be the most appropriate place - Does anyone else know a forum with more Freedom Arms traffic that i can try?

Understand the "forum venue" question, however thats decided and then the forum policy is all good.

As info, was just viewing GB auction, for whatever thats worth, some stuff is okay in variety. Lol.

Great FA guns just not seeing the 'new' or much of the 'used' high price attraction so far. On used guns, range is $900's to $12k for m83s, yet even many of the $2k+ range still have (0)ZERO bids.

I find all of it very interesting, I do work with these m83 (mine are all round barrel) guns plus alot of heavy rugers(not as tight but solid & accurate big bores & rimfires) - all these sa guns successfully. Lately, most are way over priced in my experienced opine. :))

Just a few observations & interest, then it looks like some folks are getting hoodwinked even on the new MSRP (& plus) range, concerning FA listed & advertised guns too. So Good luck and well wishes.

Past few weeks observed 9in. FG Competition .357 go $1400($1600+ to buyer after tax/FFLfees/shipping).

Then, PG short 4.75in bbl 454 w/ brake go $1800($2k+ to buyer)

Both revolvers had low rounds fired. During time where usually easier to sell guns. Makes ya wonder about the MSRP and others listed.

Good guns built the way they should be but still...

Tracking just for fun. Another low rounds fired Premier Grade - Adj. Sight just went for $1628 recently (10in. this time).

Again, quite a distance from the $3k-plus ranges. Still not much humble activity as well (if any) on the $1900 to $2800 guns listed. Where some FA listings are just getting removed altogether.

I remember also that great service is part of doin business, we know that happens of course.

Thanks for the feedback Jim - I saw that auction - can't believe that one sold for so cheap - I had mine up to that amount on a penny auction and i ended it - Never would i part with that great of a loss - I'll use it for trading fodder first. So I am open to trades if there is any interest

Well, you have a superb collectable anyway.

The whole thing is just interesting is all. Myself, have enough interesting ones to work with, years gone by and will plan to keep & shoot a variety of makes.

But guns are still just guns after all. Been thunking (dangerous) --- with original msrp & the $4k + pieces, looks like $$ in eyeballs instead of pupils. Still dont see the attraction but suppose some have alot of extra money to spare if there is an occasional purchase. I would rather buy real estate.

Saw another one on there with typically no brass or ammo available, that one looks kinda weird to me.
