wooly buggers, wooly grubbers, poppers, and another pattern called the bitch creek. It is a stonefly nymph that is yellow or orange and black with rubber legs. That is pretty much the only flies I've ever had to use around here. One of them will always work.
The little rascals like a yellow jacket patterned sinker, a small pencil popper in white, and if you're brave enough, kick in a fire ant bed that's built next to the pond bank, wait about 5 minutes, and tie on ANYTHING!
