When I was putting a scope on my TALO 44 Mag/445 Super Mag barrel yesterday I thought I'd replace the open sights that had been removed. I have an extra set so I figured I'd just screw them on. But as they say, nothing is easy! ::)

Rear sight, no problem. Front sight, screw no fit! The screw hole in the barrel is much smaller then the screw in the sight! I never noticed this before... :-\ Is my senility showing? ???

a small f.y.i.
i stopped at an ace hardware yesterday to pick
up some washers and noticed a couple of new
small drawers labeled "gun screws".
of course i had to look. it was all different sizes
and shapes of sight and scope mounting and
filler screws. it may help to check your local
ace hardware for the same thing j.i.c. the need
arises for any screws for a project firearm.
i'd have never thought to look there for any.

I'm my experience... The 3-56 screw will not hold up to heavy 44 loads anyway. Might serve you well to tap to the standard size hole or run a thin bead of epoxy or JB weld before you torque it down. If that fails...Bill over at Small Arms Restoration in Conyers has any screw you might need and will parkerize your barrel for 50 bucks.
