Am I correct in guessing that the new G2 forends can be used on a old Contender with the G2 barrels?

Yes, that is right. I'm using them on a couple of new rifle bbls. The fore end has to match the barrel. New bbl, new fore end...

I have a mix of old Contender and G2 frames and barrels and mix and match without a problem. I have only found one of my Contender forends that didn't work with a G-2 frame, and they all worked with G2 barrels, if made for appropriate length.
