In 1969-1970 in Denver we had a G.E.M. Store that was one of the early Membership Stores like COSTCO or SAM's Club and I bought New H&R 158 12ga Topper that was on sale for $29.95.....still have it. I went into the Air Force and shot in a Trap league with it till my Grandfather found out and gave me one of his Remington Wingmasters.

Ah, reminiscing! My first centerfire rifle was a sporterized 1903 Springfield from Klein Sporting Goods in Chicago, through the mail, for a bit under $70.... And a Ruger Blackhawk for $87.50, same price as a Marlin 336 in .44 magnum I picked up several years later at a gun shop which charged MSRP. Oh, the good old days before GCA-68!

Bought a Remington Rolling Block (.43 Egyptian) for $7.50 through the mail in early 1968, and a kit for it from Numrich with .444 Marlin barrel, forearm and stock for around $45. Both had shipping, of course.

Actually, I want the rifle back! It fell off the cabin wall in 1969 & the stock broke at the wrist. I then gave it away, foolish me....
