I recently purchased an Auto-Ordinance 45ACP - Competition Model full sized. It shoots great, I have ordered a new Wilson #20 spring and buffer for it, because I do not know how rounds or what spring is in it. I am shooting stout +P handloads in it.

THE PROBLEM - I have yet to find a clip that will catch and lift the slide stop after the last round. I have purchased and tried several different clips. The only way I can get this to work is if I physically bend the follower, bend it to the point it does not want to go smoothly down into the clip. I have also replaced the slide stop. It came with and extended stop I ordered and have since installed a standard stop - still I have to difigure a clip to get it to work...

Any suggestions

smokinjoe,

Thanks for the information, but it not that the spring is not strong enough. The follower does not engage the internal lug on the slide stop. To get it to catch the lug - I have to physically bend the follower out to the side. And then of course if I bend it to the left to far it does not want to go down into the clip. I is almost like the lug does not extend out far enough into the chamber area.

You might try a slide stop for a 38 Super 1911. They have an extended snout and should fix your problem. The frame on your AO is too thick for the slide stop. Not a common problem but it does surface now and then.

Iowegan - thanks for that advice. I have encountered that problem a few times and, of course, it drives ya crazy until you figure it out and get a good replacement part. Your advice on the 38 Super part is excellent. Thanks, I can put that to good use. Mikey.

Iowegan,

THANKS!

Just happen to have an account with Brownells - called them they do not carry the Kings 38 Super any longer but they do have the Wilson - it is on the way.

Filing a little bit off will be a lot easier than bending and swearing or trying to add some metal to it...

Again thanks

mike
