heres my take on it. Ive owned #1s in 4570 and 458. First I don't know how you got the idea the 458 was a "defunked" round. Its probably no harder to find ammo for then finding 4570 on the shelf is. Both can easily be downloaded. I used to shoot my 458 with a 350 cast bullet and 20 grains of 2400. recoil is about non existant at that level. Now given my choice and knowing I wouldn't want shoulder bruising loads it take the 4570 hands down. biggest reason is the 4570 has a much lighter countoured barrel and is about 2lbs lighter then the 458. the 458 is a brute and I sure wouldn't want to carry it all day hunting. My 458 was a better shooter though. Even with pop gun loads. Don't know why as it had a LONG throat. Could have just been luck of the draw but my 4570 was a mediocre gun on paper. I would suggest you look at a black pad gun either way. From what ive gleamed from others they tend to be better shooters.
