I have been thinking about buying a bsa 22. I really know nothing about them, I mean nothing. I understand they were english club guns but what different makes are out there are they all very accurate or just some of them. What are price ranges for the different models. At a local show I saw some fairly rough looking plain jane specimens for 300.00 plus dollars. I saw a international model for 650.00. Are these real world prices and are there in between models that would perform for silhouette.

Hi,

These good little target rifles are much cheaper here, though collector interest is growing! I have seen dozens of them over the years. They were virtually the standard .22lr target rifle here in Australia for many years. BSA made a lot of variations to the these rifles. Sportco was an Aussie manufacturer, am sure there were others. Vickers comes to mind!

I have to head out quickly, but here is a web site in Australia for a Company [Jansa Arms] that deals a lot in Martini rifles, including the target rifles. http://www.geko.net.au/~jansa/ I haven`t checked his website in a while, he did always have a few forsale and does export too I believe. Maybe an option, with our very poor dollar, certainly making it attractive?

cheers,

Cam.....

BSA Martini

Hey Sharp,
I own a few BSA Martinis I use for competition and play. Great rifles for the price. Most will shoot well if they've been upkept. Parts are alittle hard to find so I buy whatever I can find, but they are very robust in construction. I shoot a MkIII inter. rebarreled by Karl Kennon for prone. I like the very fast lock time of these guns.
As for pricing, for a MkIII inter. RH W/sights about $550 is the going rate for a 90%-95% rifle, but you'll pay as much as it's worth to you. I payed $750 for one of my MkIII inter LH w/o sight in 98% condition and have no regrets. Hope this was of help.

Shoot well, ATO
