Hey guys I'm loading 6.5 mm ballistic tips for my browning a-bolt in 260 Rem. I love this little cartridge. Right now I'm loading the BT to around 2910 fps and 2960 fps in the 120 grain BT . Are these speeds to much or will they perform well. I would like to keep it flat shooting enough for 300-350 yard powerline shots. But I would like the bullet to not turn into a ball of shrapnel. Also about how many times can you reload the brass. I keep it trimmed, but this is my 5 th loading just wondering thanks, and good luck to everyone this hunting season.

It would not be the top choice to shoot a Big Buck at 25 yards in the shoulder, but why do that so close when you can "lung" them.
Yea, it will do fine with common sense. BTW, I killed a 300# plus wild Hog with that bullet with a 6.5X55 at about the same vel. He was about 50 yards away & piled up after a very short run.

I'd expect they'd work well on anything more than 100 yards from the muzzle. I've not much experience with them however, my rifle prefers the 129 Hornadys.

could all of ya'll that use the 129 gr. hornady tell me what your load data is for the 260 REM. I really like that bullet it is what I reload in my 270's. Right now I'm using H4350 for my 260 and the 120 BT. I have some more powder's laying around that might be what ya'll use thanks alot.

My deer load for my 6.5x55 is 100gr. Nosler ballistic tips at 3050fps... Have shot two ND bucks from 120yds. and 270yds. Got an Idaho doe at 299yds this year. Bullet has been flawless in performance thus far...punched right through. I think the 120 would be dandy at those speeds. Just plug it into PointBlank software and you should be around 230yds. or so MPBR.

Ball powders in that burning range are WW760, H380 and H414, I prefer the latter.

H414 = W760. The only difference is the normal lot-to-lot variation. Hodgdon load data is identical for both.
