NEWS RELEASE
HILL REPORT: HILLARY BACKER WANTS RUSSERT SHOT; ‘2A IS NOT FOR SILENCING PRESS’ SAYS SAF
BELLEVUE, WA – A report in Thursday’s edition of The Hill suggests that Hillary Clinton supporters have little or no understanding of either the First or Second Amendments, after a Clinton backer reportedly said in a conference call that NBC’s Tim Russert “should be shot” for asking tough questions, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.

Reporter Sam Youngman noted that the woman who made the suggestion quickly acknowledged that she “shouldn’t say that on a conference call.” This conference call was in reaction to Clinton’s bungled performance Tuesday evening in a Democrat candidates’ debate.

“Incredible,” observed SAF founder Alan Gottlieb. “This unidentified supporter of candidate Clinton – whose extreme anti-gun record is well known – would misuse a firearm to silence a journalist, simply because he did his job and put a politician on the spot with her own words. What a remarkable comment to come from the mouth of someone who is most likely an ardent supporter of restrictive gun laws.

“The most telling thing about Youngman’s revelation,” he added, “is that the woman didn’t immediately withdraw the suggestion, she merely admitted that she shouldn’t be talking about murdering Mr. Russert in a public forum. Perhaps Mrs. Clinton’s attitudes about private firearms ownership are based on her knowledge of her own supporters, at least one of whom probably should never be allowed near a firearm, especially if she is anywhere near Tim Russert!

“Frankly,” Gottlieb said, “we are more disappointed than surprised at this remark, because it has long been a trademark of the so-called ‘progressive Left’ that it not only is intolerant of the Second Amendment right of the people to keep and bear arms, it has zero tolerance for opinions and news with which it disagrees. And these are the people supporting Hillary Clinton.

“Candidates for high public office, and especially the presidency, will occasionally stumble,” Gottlieb said. “Ultimately, they will stand or fall on their own words and beliefs, and whether their supporters like it or not, it is the duty of journalists like Tim Russert to bring out the best, and sometimes the worst, from a politician. That’s what the First Amendment is all about. He should get a medal for that, not a bullet.”

I'm sure if the Demoncrats get us disarmed they will kill off lots of people who think on the Right side of life. Kinda like Stalin.

I read the comments of the person and found no evidence of a "threat" in them. Just said they thought he should be shot. Heck I've often thought that of some politicians but certainly am not gonna be the one to do it and really since it would hurt our gun ownership rights guess I'd rather some different tool be used but there are a bunch of them I think shouldn't still be around. That's no threat just a comment on how sorry I find some of them.

I think the person who called in felt similarly about Russert. Didn't say they were gonna do it just they thought it needed to be done. There really is a difference.

Well to each their own but if some SOB said I ought to be shot I sure as heck would consider that a threat!

Consider whatever you wish but unless they said they were gonna do it or pay someone to do it then it is NOT a threat and would not be considered to be by a court. We do still have a wee little bit of freedom of speech left in this country even if not much. Clearly folks with beliefs like you are why we're losing what little freedom we have left.

No not really. It just seems to me that too often your comments show that you want to take away the right to say or do things you don't agree with. It seems you're wanting to substitute your view of right and wrong speech or actions for our Constitution free speech.

Never meant to imply that though you may see that way. I am all for free speech since I do have the right to say what I think on a subject wether some one agrees or disagrees.

It was refreshing to finally see some tough questions asked by the moderator AND the public got to see the real Hillary. It would be a lot of the same slippery flip flopping we had with Bill Clinton. It just goes to show that when you don't stand for something and try to make so many groups happy you will take a fall.

True, but her flip flopping will not be so "slick", she does not have the the skills to do so & do it with a "poker" face like Slick Willie can.

I think GB is correct about the statement---we have all made such offhanded comments. The fact that it was recorded and made public is surely an embarrassment but hardly a threat.
My wife, the Hen, has said it too me before----but then, she was correct---probably should have---I doubt a jury would have convicted her--it being justifiable and all. ;) ::) :p
Now the embarrassment should be telling about the folks in the article---they--by God--are human and are less than the loving folks they portray. Course they wouldn't have a gun to do the shooting but, I bet they would have a butcher knife---the most favored method of murder for many years.
Blessings

I reckon if that is what he said I'd see no threat in it. That in no way (to me at least) indicates he wanted to fire it at her altho that might have been his stupid way of meaning that. It definitely was what was said. Of course what WAS said if that is rather stupid and makes little to no sense but them that's typical of him in my opinion. I have no use or respect for him and actually can't stand to listen to him talk or watch his shows.

That's OK Graybeard if you don't like him. I was just curious if you would hold the same standard on the other side. A lot of people went off half cocked about it like the Hillary statement. I didn't see any threat in either. Just dumb comments.
